Joséphine: "These are my subjects. I try to make them happy." This is what Joséphine Bonaparte said once about her plants. The future Empress, a passionate botanist, bought the Rueil Malmaison castle in 1799. Seduced by its surrounding landscape, she created a romantic garden blooming with flowers from around the world. This labyrinth of feminine sensitivity inspired the House to create its new candle.
About Trudon: The oldest candle maker in the world began in 1643 when Claude Trudon became the owner of a boutique on the rue Saint Honoré where he developed his activity as a grocer and candler. His candles were purchased to light parishes and homes. Thus, in the early days of Louis the 14th’s reign, Claude Trudon created a manufacturing company that would make his family’s fortune. Trudon supplied Versailles up to the last days of the Ancient Regime and in 1811 supplied Napoleon and his imperial court.
