Abd El Kader: Born in 1808 near the town of Mascara in Algeria, Abd El Kader was a politician and military leader, as well as a writer, poet and philosopher who founded the Algerian state. Nicknamed “the friend of the French”, he was said to be enlightened and cultivated. A man who always fought with honour, he was highly respected even by his enemies.
About Trudon: The oldest candle maker in the world began in 1643 when Claude Trudon became the owner of a boutique on the rue Saint Honoré where he developed his activity as a grocer and candler. His candles were purchased to light parishes and homes. Thus, in the early days of Louis the 14th’s reign, Claude Trudon created a manufacturing company that would make his family’s fortune. Trudon supplied Versailles up to the last days of the Ancient Regime and in 1811 supplied Napoleon and his imperial court.
